Build 182: Notifications, Steam import

Dimitar Gatev March 31, 2026

Hi folks,

We've been heads-down for a while, and this update brings some features we've been wanting to build, a few user submitted ideas and fixes, as well as some great new avatars for you to unlock. Here's everything that's new.

Finish notifications

This one might be our favourite addition. When a friend finishes something you recommended to them, you get a notification. And if you finish something they sent your way, they get one too. You can toggle this per item from the recommender screen if you'd rather keep things quiet.

Tag multiple recommenders to an item

You can now tag more than one person as the recommender for any item. If three friends all told you to watch the same show, they all get to share the credit.

Steam game imports

LaterRex already supported imports from IMDb, Letterboxd, Trakt, and Goodreads. Now you can import your Steam library too, including hours played. If you've got a backlog across books, movies, TV, and games, this means most of your media life can live in one place.

Hours played on game reviews

When you write a game review, it now shows how many hours you had logged at the time of writing. It's a small detail, but it adds useful context. Also occasionally very funny when someone drops a one-star review with 400 hours on the clock.

Discover redesign with Sets

Discover has been visually overhauled and now features curated Sets you can browse through. We'll be adding Sets over time and more is coming to Discover in the next update, so stay tuned!

11 new avatars

Eleven new Rex avatars have been added for you to unlock. We won't spoil which ones.

Fixes and improvements

The external profile view now lets you dismiss the "Link a contact" card, and we resolved a bug where Upcoming Episode card images could break the layout. Thank you to the beta tester who reported that one. We've improved the overall look and feel in Episodes to make it easier to navigate around.

Everything above is live in the TestFlight beta right now. Come say hi on https://www.reddit.com/r/laterrex/ if you have any thoughts or feedback.
