Build 196: Music Overhaul
Hi folks,
Music just got a full overhaul, there are some welcome improvements across the rest of the app, and there are 10 new avatars to unlock. Here's everything that's new as we gear up for the official launch of LaterRex
Music
Albums now show the full tracklist, so you can rate songs individually alongside the album and artist. Rate one track, an entire album, or a whole discography.
Albums also get a new 'Spin Through' feature. You hit play on your side, LaterRex asks you what you think of each track as you go, and the whole thing lands on your friends' feed as a single session. Friends can compare how they've rated the album's tracklist against you.
The Library has been reshuffled for music too. Artists, albums, and songs each get their own sections are are now much easier to navigate.
Richer previews for items outside your Library
Tap something you haven't added yet and you'll now see the full detail screen - the same one you get for items already in your Library. Community ratings, reviews, friends' activity, all there. Previously you got a stripped-down preview; it now matches the rest of the app.
Journal syncs to iCloud
Journal history now syncs across your devices via iCloud. And if you remove an item and add it back later, the previous journal entries come back with it. No more losing your completion dates because you tidied up your Library.
10 new Rex avatars
Ten fresh Rex avatars to unlock. Eight are milestone rewards tied to how much you've completed, and two are secrets. We won't spoil those.
Fixes and improvements
Improved social discoverability of friends you might have - searching for a friend will now suggest friends of friends.
A few smaller fixes went in alongside all this - cleaner music flows, no more duplicate library entries from previews, safer offline journal history, an issue that cause episode to sometimes not load, and a long-standing secret-avatar bug finally squashed.
